Las Vegas to Flagstaff

Today is day 5 of our vacation, but only the second day that I've had access to the internet so this post is for day 2 of our vacation. This leg of the trip was filled with truly amazing sites. We left Vegas about 10am and it was already 100 degrees, by the time we hit Hoover dam, it was just over a hundred. Hoover Dam is huge! The dam itself, is 726 feet tall.

I took this picture standing at the top of the dam looking down. It's a really long way down.

After we left Hoover Dam we continued to drive on US Highway 93 through Arizona. For a long time we drove through country that looked like this. Noticed those big dark clouds? Hmm could it be rain?

Yes! Lots of rain and lightning and thunder! At this point we were wondering what it would be like when we got to the Grand Canyon....it really didn't seem like a good idea to be wondering around looking at the canyon in a lightning storm.

But fortunately there was no rain at the Grand Canyon only a clouds. It is so beautiful this picture doesn't do it justice. Unfortunately my camera doesn't do well in overcast conditions so the colors aren't shown as vivid as they really are.

Ashley was fascinated by all the ravens, this one just sat there next to her and was not at all scared. It was so funny, it just looked at us, while we looked at it.

Here's another of the view...

We stayed in the park to watch the sunset. It was so beautiful!

one last picture of the sunset. Staying to watch it meant that we didn't get to Flagstaff until about 8:30 and then ate dinner and checked into our hotel at almost 10pm. It was a long day, but worth it! That's it for now, but I'll post more soon.
