First Treatment

The first treatment is over!!! Only five more to go. It really wasn't too bad. The worst part was really the needles. Before we even started they took 10 vials of blood, and then it took two tries to get the IV in. But all in all it wasn't too bad. I even managed to get to my class tonight. Since I was feeling a little on the dizzy side the hubby drove me and went to the library until I finished. I am so glad that there are only 2 more weeks of school left.

I am also happy to have the first treatment over. It's nice to have a better idea of what to expect. The doctor says that my worst day after this treatment will probably be on Wednesday, and then I will start to get better. For now I'm just enjoying the fact that I only feel slightly dizzy and maybe a little warmer then normal. I know that as time goes on the effects are cumulative and could be worse with each treatment, but I will worry about that later.

Okay, now it's time for me to go to bed, between not being able to go to sleep last night and the long day today, I am exhausted and looking forward to a nice long sleep.
Prom Night!

The teenager at 17 and about 2 years.

The teenager went to the junior prom this weekend. Boy are proms different from when I went. Most kids just go in groups.....no big dates! Mostly I thought this was pretty cool and certainly took a lot of pressure off everyone, but still I did miss some of the traditional stuff. Here are a few pictures......she was truly gorgeous. It's amazing how fast they grow up.

This one is the Charlie's Angels pose.

This one is at the prom.....she has one of these pictures with the rose with each her friends from the prom.....

This one is at home when she was waiting for her friends to come

So grown up!!!

I guess she had a great time.....
Sleepless Night

I am having a difficult time falling asleep tonight, so I thought instead of continuing to lay here trying to force myself to sleep, I would catch up with some blogging.

Recently I cut my hair in order to hopefully make it a little easier once it starts to fall out from the chemo. The first two pictures are from when we were in Hawaii this past February.

The first one is me and the teenager (who happens to have really great hair) one night at dinner. In the second one you can't see too much of my hair, but if you look closely you can see that I have a nice thick pony tail hanging out of my hat. In general that trip to Hawaii was perfect. We took it just before I had my lumpectomy and still were hoping this whole cancer thing would just be a scare and would soon just be a memory. No such luck.

This is me after I got my hair cut....I'm calling it my transitional cut. The doctor says that about 10 days after my first chemo treatment (which is at noon tomorrow) the hair will all be gone, so I figure once it starts to go I'll just shave it. We'll see how brave I am about posting a picture of that!

Anyway, I have a great new wig, some scarfs and some wonderful hats that a group of my mother's friends knit for me. I haven't taken pictures of them yet, but will soon and then post them. Each one of the hats is truly a work of art.
